TJ Sullivan has Salem running through his blood. A lifelong resident, TJ was born and raised here, settled down here, started his business career here, raised his children, and has been a leading member of numerous organizations in the Salem area. And now, he’s ready to represent us in the Oregon House of Representatives – right here in Salem.

Born in Salem in 1973, TJ felt drawn to serving our community early on. He graduated from Salem Academy High School and then Portland State University. Moving back home, he began working in the insurance industry at Huggins Insurance – and became heavily involved in local organizations. He began by serving on the Salem Planning Commission in 1998 and was later elected to serve on Salem City Council. During this time, he focused on growing our economy, diversifying small businesses, creating economic opportunity, and ensuring the safety of our neighborhoods. As TJ looks at what’s going on in our state now, he knows it’s time to step up and deliver results for our region once again.

Like most residents in House District 19, TJ believes it’s time to get Salem and our state moving in the right direction again. As a local small business owner, he knows that step one is getting our economy back on track. He’s ready to use his small business experience and knowledge of what it means to sign both the front and the back of the check to begin making life affordable again for everyday Oregonians. His business acumen has led him to leadership positions in many organizations in Salem, including as a long-time Board Member of the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce – and most recently, serving a term as the Chamber’s President. He’s also served as a member of Salem’s Main Street Association, including as a Board Member and Board President as well. Anyone who’s worked with TJ knows he has a passion for helping businesses grow and working to make our Salem economy better.

As a husband and father, TJ has is deeply concerned about the safety of our communities. We’ve watched over the past few years as our state leaders have continued to draw away from supporting our law enforcement officials and first responders, instead putting criminals’ rights over victims. As our Representative, TJ will fight tooth and nail to make our communities safe again.

TJ loves Salem. There’s no doubt he will fight to make it the best place to live. This is obvious in his lifelong service to our community. Outside of TJ’s public service, he’s also held numerous community service roles as well. He’s served on the Board for the Keizer Rotary, Chaired the South Gateway Neighborhood Association, and served as Board President for Friends of the Salem Senior Center, helping to raise money to assist the elderly.

There’s no doubt, TJ has a passion for his hometown, the Salem community. He wants the people here to thrive and every person to have economic opportunity, he wants to make sure that every individual has a chance to succeed, and each person to feel safe in their own homes and neighborhoods. There’s a lot of work to do, but TJ is just the man for the job. He’s ready to fight for all of Salem.
